East Bay Takes Steps

MJ, Clayton Valley, D26N

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, Division 26 North attended the East Bay Takes Steps at Heather Farms Park. We were asked to cheer on the attendees once they reached the end but encouraged to participate in the walk! The event was to fundraise for research and education on IBD (inflammatory bowel disease). We were given ribbons, and you were supposed to pick the color that applies to you. (I.E. white for caregiver) You would then tie the ribbon to the rope, and the rope was featured at the finish line. Many stories were being told, from people who have IBD to people who knew people who dealt with IBD. We were provided with water, bagels, chips, etc. There were many sponsors like Stanford Medicine. Other than D26N, there were many volunteers, even from San Francisco! At the end of the event, we helped take down the chairs, tents, etc. There were these little blown-up "wood" stump chairs, and they took forever to break down. Overall, this event was a very fulfilling event to volunteer at, and it was interesting to hear everyone's story.
